Submitting to Flashstar Magazine
So how do I submit my material to this magazine?
Just email your submission to Cathy Nerujen. She and Oberon (part-time assistant editor) will read and check every single submission. Please remember that due to large volumes of submissions, you should introduce yourself in your email, tell us briefly what kind of writer or creative person you are, tell us briefly about what the work is that you are submitting. It can be written, art or photographed work. It is important that you own the copyright of your work. You can include your work as a DOC file, standard MS Word file, .txt file, JPEG or PNG file.
What about my copyright?
What you own, you keep. We do not own any person's work. We don't need to. Copyright remains always with you the creator of your work. However you can not submit work that is not owned by you, due to copyright problems or challenges that might arise. Our philosophy is to promote writers and creative people. We allow links for your blog or works, so we know this is important to everyone.
I have a blog, can I mention it in FlashStar Magazine?
Yes. All contributors are allowed to advertise links freely in Flashstar Magazine. Yes, links are for contributors. Not for anyone else. Ads are totally different, however.
If you wish, you may also send us Sell sheets. Most books or writing today is helped by means of a sell sheet. You don't have to submit one, per se. Basically, something less than one page in document size will do. It should have two paragraphs, one a synopsis, (250 words o.t.a.) one paragraph for your author bio, a medium size cover photo if it is for a book or art or photo, etc. And include a medium size author photo and a link to the web page to purchase. Include your Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn or blog page with its name.
It helps people identify you and your work, and what your writing is about more quickly. Savvy writers use sell sheets. We can add a specialized kind of sell sheet to writers profiles, (see Issue 1) but they should contain relevant information, and be up to date. Also most of our readers are online, so aim for your online audience.
Our magazine formats:
The magazine will be in two forms. One will be this website, Readable on any browser in the known universe.
The other version is a PDF edition that will be already downloadable to a PC, smartphone, tablet PC, iPad or eBook reader such as a Nook or Kindle. We want you to enjoy the magazine offline as well as online.
Please submit writing to us on text files in MS Word .txt format or .doc format. We accept most major types of text formatted writing. OpenOffice documents are also okay, as are documents written on Atlantis, or Atlantis Nova.
Remember to include an author photo.
